日本人講師KG前回の続き。
今日は、ストラテジー（戦略）というモジュール（科目）のグループ課題をご紹介します。下記の課題について、５人のグループでのプレゼンを実施しました。
Group Assignment: Reorganizing Dell Inc
課題は、「デルの再編」でした。個人的にはあまり興味のある業界ではないのが残念でした。
This is a group assignment to be completed in your usual study groups. The case will be made available from Monday 28th January. You are required to prepare a 15 minute ‘presentation to the board’ together with an accompanying 1,500 word report to support your presentation. Your presentation will be given to the board on the afternoon of Thursday 31st January. Hard copies of both the presentation and supporting report need to be handed-in when you present.
課題が提示されるのが1月28日（月）、プレゼンが31日（木）という半分イジメのようなスケジュール。議論して、資料探して読み込んで、シナリオ構築して、パワポ作って、リハーサルして、これ全部を3日でやれという無茶振り。まあ、実際の仕事では普通にあり得るので（こんなの私の場合、日常茶飯事でした）、こうした課題の出し方をするJohn（講師）はさすがだな、と思いました（実ビジネスの経験が豊富）。実際に、一組は準備が間に合わずに悲惨な評価が下されたのを覚えています。
The presentation and report will take the form of a report and recommendation to the board on:
‘The strategy to be pursued by Dell together with the identification of key actions required in order to implement successfully and an indication of likely timescales’
This will include a strategic review of Dell’s market position in 2010 following the latest restructuring and the launch of the Mini 3 Smartphone. In doing the review you will need to consider Dell’s position against its major competitors.
The strategy needs to be clearly articulated and sufficient supporting evidence provided so that the board is able to make an informed decision based upon your submission
非常に明快で知的な文章ですね。
プレゼンは、デルの取締役会で役員に直接説明するという設定です。実際のプレゼンでは、５人の仮装取締役会が構成され（このモジュール以外の教授・講師等）、15分程度の質問攻撃に晒されました。ただ、この質問のいくつかが結構的外れで回答に難儀したのを覚えています。
実は私のプレゼン授業では、このセッティングと質疑応答を重視しています。極端な話、こういう環境でプレゼンしない限り全くリアリティがありません。
それと、一応プレゼンのお題（太字部分）を翻訳しておきますね。
プレゼンと（それを補完する）レポートは、取締役会への報告書と推薦（提案）書の体裁をとること。テーマは、デルが今後取るべき戦略。それを成功裏に実施するために必要なキーとなる対策を特定し、実現可能なスケジュールも併せて提示すること。
Important
The 1,500 word limit is the absolute maximum for the report. Any excess will result in a deduction of marks.
You will need to develop a coherent argument supported by evidence. Also, you need to consider the extent to which your proposals can be implemented and their likely success in the light of any competitor response.
This group assignment carries 40% of the module marks.
最後に注意事項。レポートは1,500字以内で、それを超えた場合は減点対象。エビデンス（事実・データ・証拠）に基づく首尾一貫した議論を展開し、競合他社の反応も考慮した上で、提案の実行可能性の程度や成功の可能性についても検証するよう求められました。
とにかく、Assignment（課題）に取り組む場合は、しっかりと出題者の要求事項を理解する必要があります。それができないと、往々にして的外れの議論を展開し単位を落としてしまうのです。まあ、これは実社会でも同じですね。そういう意味で、MBAに限らず実際のビジネスにおいても、実は「リーディング」が非常に大切なのです。
